Bedside Table Reading
The following books are precariously piled on our bedside table, each
having been started, some only a few pages, others halfway finished. I
don't have the appetite, drive, call it what you will to read
nonfiction as quickly as fiction.

One coffeetable photography book, one investigative piece about our food supply, one medieval mystery and one piece about economics and governmental policy.

Omnivore's Dilemma took me a while to start, but I ended up enjoying it a lot. The book's made a big impact on the "grassfed meat" movement. Before it was published he wrote an article based on an excerpt of the book for the New York Times Sunday Magazine. That Monday the natural meat producer my husband was working for at the time had an enormous number of requests for grassfed beef. It was quite dramatic.
